Skinny Jeans Ban

It was reported recently that a North Texas school sent a middle school student home for wearing skinny jeans, as the administrators felt that skinny jeans are not consistent with acceptable dress code and is disruptive to student learning.

Certainly not surprising as it is not the first time the highly popular apparel has been the centre of controversy. As a matter of fact, such actions will only draw more attention to jeans, further up-lift its profile and makes it even more popular.

How To Wear Cuffed Jeans

Fashion come & ebb like tide - this time around, its cuffed jeans!

Cuffed jeans which surfaced during the 1950s have made a strong “come-back” with celebrities embracing it in all trendy spots. Top fashion magazines and stores have featured cuffed jeans as the current hot couture for the younger set who wants the casual look without don’t spending an extra dime.

With the exception of flare jeans, all other jeans design can be turned into cuffed jeans. That means you can dig into your wardrobe and change whatever denim you have into cuffed jeans though, low rise tight jeans are the best for cuffing. Those who like destroyed jeans can also cuffed their jeans to add a new twist to their look.

Since most people own at least 5 to 7 pairs of jeans, you can cuffed a few and wear different pairs on different occasions. The simple rule of thumb is, to ensure that cuffed jeans fall somewhere between your knees and ankles, and unless you have long legs, the cuff should not be more than 2-3 inches wide. The other rule is, if you choose to wear a bulky top, don’t let it fall below the hip as you want to show off your lovely hip curves without getting a disproportionate look. If you want to accentuate your long legs, put on high heel shoes. Wearing flat shoes and sandals is alright too, though you need to watch out for platform shoes as not all designs go well with cuffed jeans.

As cuffed jeans are versatile comfy wear both at home, on the streets and on the beach, experiment with different tops and see which brings out the best in you. Some may find the V-neck most appropriate, while others find collar shirts most suitable.

The same applies to accessories like earrings and necklace. Cuffed jeans go well with a wide range of accessories. However, chunky ones look really great and trendy with cuffed jeans.

Whatever it is, don’t constraint yourself as you are unlikely to turn out disastrous with cuffed jeans. So, have fun!

Jeans Festive Sales Picking Up Strongly

Even though it is still weeks away from Christmas and New Year, festive sales have started the upward trend.

All indications are such that jeans sales are out-performing the rest of the apparel sector mainly due to its wide acceptance in both casual and formal including corporate environment.

The desire in jeans may also drive gift card sales as these give recipients the flexibility to choose their festive gifts – and, ultimately jeans are likely to be one of favored redemption items – since most of the recipients are teenages.

Skin Tight Jeans – Reversal Of An Absurd Court Ruling

One of the strangest news about jeans concern a 1999 court ruling that a woman wearing skin tight jeans cannot be raped or sexually molested because the removal of the garment requires her “collaboration and consent”.

The good news is that, a court in Padua held during May 2005 that “jeans cannot be compared to any type of chastity belt”. In that case, the man who was accused of molesting a 16 year old girl in skin tight jeans was sentenced for one year’s jail. The ruling was again upheld in Venice during October of the same year by the regional appeals court.

Lee Jeans – Innovative, Provocative, Cutting-Edge

The title of this blog post summarized the persona of Lee Jeans, which has a heritage dating as far back as 1889.

Lee Jeans’ popularity is a far cry from its humble beginnings as blue-collar apparel: over the last one hundred over years, it has grown to be one of the largest global brand in jeans, and probably the best selling jeans for women too.

It is therefore not surprising to find Lee Jeans in major retailers like Amazon.com. And, therefore, it is also not uncommon for Americans to own at least one pair of Lee Jeans.

Ultra Low Rise Jeans – guys, cleavage is prohibited!

Low rise jeans especially ultra low rise ones look deliciously good on ladies. The display of cleavage of the hind may be comparable to the frontal cleavage. Sexy and sweet!

Guys showing their buttock cleavage!? That’s definitely something else altogether! It is, at best, distasteful if not horrific. Some may asked why the double standard – well, it’s not hypocritical, it simply don’t elicit the same emotions when guys wear their ultra low rise jeanswithout sagging.

Power Jeans

In the not too distant past, corporate America was embracing power suits like fish in water. Today, jeans are slowly and surely making its way into offices, not merely as Friday’s smart casuals – but as common attire for daily wear.

According to Christina Binkley, a fashion writer, the current fad may be attributable to Steve Jobs of Apple, who is known to wear Levi's 501 to both formal and informal events. “Power jeans”, as she appropriately term it, is a fashion statement that shows that the wearer confident, versatile and relaxed.

However, not all categories of jeans qualify as “power jeans”. Only plain, dark color straight-cut jeans qualify as professional attire.

History Of Denim Blue Jeans

Most people attribute the invention of blue jeans to Levi Strauss without realizing that the history of blue jeans may have dated as far back as the 16th century.

The original word for “jeans” was “Genoese”, the name for Italian sailors who wore blue fabric garments made of cotton, wool and linen blend. Another version claimed that the word “jeans” was of French origin – it was “serge” – a mix of silk / wool from the French town of Nimes.
Yet, another have it that the history of blue jeansstarted in India where pants of similar material were worn by sailors of Dhunga.

Whatever it was, that is quite irrelevant now. What matters is that the popularity of jeans has grown worldwide and a favorite wear of both young and old.
